Undesirable Characteristics in a Series (A “Lip Service Recap” of Sorts)
[B+K] For the review of the last couple of episodes of Lip Service’ final season Season Two (sorry for keeping you waiting - life somehow got in the way of dyke drama… usually it’s the other way around, isn’t it), we are joining forces. Seriously, what kind of a friend would I be, if I let [B] suffer through this alone? On that note: what kind of lesbian are you, if you write lists like this one from episode 5?

Lip Service Season 2 Episode 3 - Recap
[B] Since Lip Service is back for season 2 there’ve been a hell lot of surprises and twists and episode 3 continues with this tradition. But first things first…
After Cat’s death the remaining characters still try to find their way back to a normal life. Tess thinks about going back to work, Sam sees a therapist to be cleared for work and Frankie … well Frankie does what she does best: feeling sorry for herself. It’s a call of her mother, who wants to meet with her that get’s her out of bed. Don’t know how you feel about this, but I’m bored and Frankie herself seems to be too.

What’s this storyline with my mother all about anyways? I don’t get it and I’m bored … so maybe I should skip town.
Lip Service Season 2 - Alana Hood joins the cast
[B] This week’s Lip Service episode is going to introduce another new member of the cast: Alana Hood.

According to the official facebook page she’s playing Bea, a friend of Lexy. Well ok not only a friend, they’re actually friends with benefits.
So what else is there to know about the openly gay Scottish actress?
- In 2010 she played a part in the performance piece Lesbian Bathhouse at the Edinburgh fringe Festival.
- She is, as probably most of us, entertained when lesbian couples randomly show up on TV: “celebrity wife swap has been on DMAX twice this week and both times there’s been a lesbian couple, refreshing” (Source)
Help me out here, there must be more lesbian gossip about Alana Hood.
Lip Service Season 2 Episode 2 - Recap
[B] I’m desperatly looking for a beginning to start this recap of Lip Service’s last episode, since I’m still not sure what to make out of it. It was shocking, unpredictable, entertaining, at least at the beginning, kinda frustrating and intense, all at the same time.
So let’s try to start at the beginning. It’s Cat’s birthday and Sam, still totally in Love prepared this beautiful breakfast only to top by the designer purse, she got for Cat. This could be a lovely morning, if Cat’s head wasn’t already in bed with Frankie. Already at this point I’m still very annoyed with the whole Cat and Frankie are meant to be storyline. Anyways what follows is one of the few entertaining sequences of season 2’s second episode.

Lexy and Sam. The new perfect couple. Maybe we should already start calling them Saxy (Probably the best shipping-name ever, and you’ll have to thank [K] for that). And I definetly need to figure out how it is possible to be that cute, if you’re almost not able to breathe anymore. Oh and best thing ever we now definetly know Lexy does fancy Sam.
“Lost Girl” Season 3 - Wishful Thinking
[B+K] Our first symptoms of withdrawal have settled in, the first spoilers for Season 3 are out, the first week of shooting the new episodes is already behind us… so while the time to actually influence what’s ahead of us has certainly passed, it’s never to late for some wishful thinking to pass at least some of the time until the return of our favorite Succooby Gang:

They have a considerably better fashion sense than the original Scooby Gang…
Lip Service Season 2 Episode 1 - Picspam Recap
[B] A tiny little picspam recap with alternative dialogues for all you other fangirls out there.

Imagined Dialogue:
Oh you and I do have so much in commen and on top of all that you’re gorgeus, let’s make out … Fuck I totally forgot I already do have a girlfriend. Maybe next episode? I’m sure we will break up till then.

I’m hot, you’re hot … let’s be hot together!

Cat: I can’t leave Sam?
Frankie: Yeah, you told me that yesterday.
Cat: We could still see each other. If you want me this is the way you can have me untill I’ve worked out what to do.
Seriously, I’m still very confused by the new Cat.
Oh and last but not least, one for the hot cop. Gorgeous as always.

Lip Service Season 2 Episode 1 - First Thoughts
[B] It’s done … Lip Service is back! And here are my very subjective first thoughts on tonight’s new, season 2 starting episode…

- What the hell happened to Cat? In Season 1 she’s introduced as this tidy, organized, nervous, hurt and very accurate woman who is now doing drugs during work, drinking way to much and sleeping with Frankie and Sam? Hmm I think there might be some problems with character continuity … Sarah & Lee kind a sum it up with their tweet “What a Cat-astrophe.”
- I’m probably not the only one who’s already a big fan of Lexy (Anna Skellern). And since Cat seems to no longer fancy a monogamous relationship there might be a chance of Lexy and Sam hooking up. I’d love that … awesome pic spam is on its way.

- Tess still is very entertaining eventhough she doesn’t like soccer.
- I was kinda irritated by Frankies hair thought it were better in Season 1 and since I’m still playing for Team Sam I probably shouldn’t talk to much about her.
A more serious and detailed review might be up as soon as I do have the chance to rewatch the episode. Till then let us know what you think.
Lip Service - Season 2
[B] Yeah … only 10 more days to go …
The Big Bang Theory: Latest Pamy Moments
[B] It’s definetly time to catch up with the latest quotes of Penny and Amy, since the Pamy moments come to be one of the most exploited running gags of the latest episodes.
Season 5 Episode 16: The Vacation Solution

Amy: You know the connection between marriage and money is nothing new. In fact the term ‘wed’ referred to the money and livestock the groom paid the bride’s father.
Amy To Bernadette: For example you’re adorable, intelligent, and a good earner – I could conservatively see you going for two oxen and a goose.
Amy to Penny: You would fetch a unicorn.
Season 5 Epsiode 17: The Rothman Disintegration

Amy: I’ll let you in on a little secret. Originally, we were painted nude. But I had him add clothes cause I thought it was an unnecessary challenge to our heterosexuality.
Penny: Yeah, good call.
Amy: But, if you ever change your mind, all it would take is some warm, soapy water and a couple of sponges.
Penny: You’re talking about the painting, right?
Amy: Sure.
Season 5 Epsiode 18: The Werewolf Transformation
Sheldon wasn’t that eager to let Penny cut his hair and Amy doesn’t seem to understand why:
Penny: It’s a long story. Anyway, Sheldon, I promise I know what I’m doing. Please let me cut your hair.
Sheldon: Amy, what do you think?
Amy: There’s not a hair on my body I wouldn’t let this woman trim.
Women in Prison, Girls behind Bars, Lesbians in Action*
[K] We have already discussed the trope of the lesbian nun, but even more numerous and notorious? The prison lesbian, butch warden, dyke behind bars, whatever you wanna call her. From The L Word and Bitch Slap to Gaga’s Telephone the lesbian prison inmate is seeing a kind of revival in contemporary media, but in honor of our Vintage Butches, I’d like to take this opportunity to explore the (exploitation) roots of this media stereotype in all its awful/campy/fun/degrading/sexy glory.

Lost Girl - Truth and Consequences
[B] It’s been a while since Rizzoli & Isles’ second season ended and the start of the second season of Lip Service is still not officially announced, so I took my chance to fall in love with another TV Series: Lost Girl.

Truisms by Rachel Madow
[K] Rachel Maddow at the Steinbeck Center asked about life advice for young(ish) LGBTQIA people:
If you can be out, you really ought to be out
You can never speak from a position fo strength unless you speak from a position of honesty
You are writing the script of what the next generation of gay people is gong to be able to do
also:
I know a lot of gay jerks.
Scribegrrrl in her very first The L Word-Recap
[K] So true ! I know we all have (very) mixed feelings about Ilene Chaiken’s brain child, but I must admit: I just started re-watching The L Word from the beginning and already feel the old obsession slowly crawling back into my life… or actually not that slowly, I’m hooked yet again and have so far made the following observations:
- Season 1 was better than I remembered! Yeah! (My memory is clouded by the horridity of Season Six obviously)
- OMG - the amount of straight sex in Season 1? No!! Why are there always dudes present/watching when the girls are getting it on?
That’s probably the one thing that got better over time (as opposed to the writing/character continuity. No, wait… character continuity already started its downward spiral with Marina’s story) - Whatever: I love it… seems like another phase I won’t grow out of

02.22.12 ♥ 5“Young Man with a Horn”… and his Wife with a Girlfriend
[K] Young Man with a Horn is the 1950 biopic about legendary jazz cornetist Bix Beiderbecke played by Kirk Douglas and, so far, I realize that there is absolutely no reason you would be interested in that film unless you are a film buff/jazz fan. That is, until you realize that his love interest, and later wife Amy North, played by Lauren Bacall and her oh-so-husky voice… is gay.
